Community and Philanthropy Partnerships Week
Community and Philanthropy Partnerships Week (CPPW) was an Australian government-funded initiative designed to raise awareness and showcase the great work that happens when community groups partner with philanthropic organisations to build strong and vibrant places to live and work. As part of the initiative there were a small number of grants available to community groups to help support celebratory and promotional activities during CPPW itself. The initiative was managed by Philanthropy Australia, and administered by the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal, over three years (2015, 2016 and 2017).
JAW Communications was enlisted to manage the development, launch and execution of the campaign over the three-year period. Our aim was to generate awareness amongst communities and philanthropists across Australia of CPPW. Our multi-level communications plan involved the development of a visual identity and website, launching social media channels, engaging with community groups, volunteers, corporate partners, private philanthropists, local MPs and Ministers. To support this activity we developed pitch packs, template media releases for grant recipients to use, hints and tips on how to use social media / take photos, guidelines on how to run events, wrote articles and case studies and shared news of community celebrations through our networks and communication channels as well as coverage across mainstream and philanthropic media.
In the first year we exceeded all expectations attracting more than four times the number of anticipated grant applicants and over a third more corporate partners to help spread the word. The success of our marketing communications campaign achieved international recognition with an IABC Gold Quill Award.
